‘Stranger Things’ Creators Launch Supernatural Series ‘The Boroughs’ on Netflix

Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of Stranger Things, are developing their next project at Netflix: The Boroughs, a sci-fi drama series from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.

The Boroughs is based on an original idea by Addiss and Matthews and is set in a retirement community in the New Mexico desert.

Similar to Stranger Things, it revolves around a group of unlikely heroes who must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing their time.

Addiss and Matthews will serve as showrunners for the eight-episode series and executive produce alongside the Duffer brothers.

Hilary Leavitt from Upside Down Pictures will also be an executive producer.

The Boroughs is part of the Duffers’ nine-figure overall deal with Netflix, which includes the upcoming final season of Stranger Things and other projects such as a Stranger Things animated series, a London stage show, and a live-action spinoff of the flagship series.
